Tim “Four Hour Work Week” Ferris is at it again pushing the envelope that is! If you haven’t heard of Tim or his book “Four Hour Work Week” or 4HWW to the devotee you must have been hiding under a log or swinging in a hammock at Bora Bora because you don’t need to read it (that a joke for insiders).
If being all over the internet, having an enviable lifestyle and a best seller is not enough. Tim is now advancing the open source / crowd source concept by putting his entire book on PBwiki for the world to edit!!
I must admit after all the hype leading up to the launch I got to thinking that Tim was a hyperactive overachiever who would be difficult to duplicate. However his work keep coming up, I was finding him on Youtube, blog posts, absolutely everywhere. Eventually I had to give in I bought the book The 4-Hour work Week: Escape 9-5, Live Anywhere, and Join the New Rich and the audio book.
Man, am I floored!! I shouldn’t be telling you this but the book is really bloody good. There is a metaphysical depth to it I would never have suspected. Don’t get me wrong it is no way airy fairy, it’s chock full of actionable strategies and tips. In years to come we may well look back on this book as a watershed. Tim has harnessed his considerable brain and experience to write a manifesto for delivering to the average blog reader the kind of lifestyle the information age promised.
If you are interested in achieving something different that what you currently have you should seriously consider reading this book!

Last year I was horribly burned out and I went to Burning Man in the USA for 2 weeks. I read this book and also really enjoyed it. I think the most important concept is the concept of understanding how much you need and not really chasing anything more. Anyway it was a profound enough experience to leave what I was doing and start something new http://www.ourpatch.com.au a website aimed at rural and regional Australians.
G’day Simon, thanks for dropping by. Burning man eh? I have wanted to go ever since I heard about the event in the mid 90’s. I guess if I implement the advice from 4HWW I might soon manage a visit. I would be keen to hear how you are traveling with using some of Tim Ferris’s strategies. I had a quick look at ourpatch.com.au it looks interesting I got to go back for some more recon. You might also be interested in one of my inactive side projects outbackontv.com see you around. Dean
Burning man was one of the best things I have done. Go soon I supect commercial pressures will eventually get the better of the organisers and it’ll be just another festival. Right now it’s a special experience.
